The picturesque fishing port of Puerto
de Mogán is located on the South Western coast of Gran
Canaria. Please see map below. Puerto de Mogán has plenty
to do but is a quieter resort compared with the busier
places such as Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas, and is a
perfect retreat for relaxing. The town has its own
unique style not seen elsewhere in the Canaries.
The waterfront is a purpose built
resort with buildings no more than two to three stories
high. It is a traffic free village with colourful houses in
Mediterranean style. The houses are arranged with narrow
alleys, prettily lined with small gardens and window boxes
beautifully planted with colourful bougainvilleas.
Behind the harbour on the steep
hillside, is the original fishing village. The pretty
white-washed houses, steps and maze of narrow paths is home
to the vibrant local community. Take a walk up the steps
through the old town to the viewing belvedere for a bird's
eye panorama of the whole resort.
Puerto de Mogán also has several sea
water channels giving rise to its name "Spanish little
Venice". A stroll around this port is enhanced by the many
promenades and small bridges.
The port is both an attractive yacht
marina and the home to a small working fishing fleet. The
harbour is surrounded by restaurants, stylish cafés and bars
(some with live music), making the location perfect for a romantic
evening meal. Several times a year, Jazz festivals are held
at the Bandstand in the harbour centre.
On Friday mornings, there
is a bustling and very attractive street market stretching
all the way from the harbour through to the town centre.
East of the harbour, there is a well protected golden sand
beach - ideal if you have children with you as all our
apartments are only a short walk away.
Other attractions
include; a yellow submarine offering trips to the underwater
world off shore; boat trips to the beaches of Puerto Rico
and beyond; deep sea fishing trips are also available with
record sized marlin or tuna being reported nearby.
This is a fabulous
location to relax and get away from it all, with plenty to
do. The destination is delightful whatever the time of year,
just look at the
climate chart below. Our three
apartments are well placed to make your stay as enjoyable
and comfortable as possible.

NOTE: This chart represents the average weather for
Gran Canaria. However, the island is very mountainous and
this causes large weather variations between the north and
southern resorts. Puerto de Mogan has a wonderful micro
climate which means it is sunnier and on average, around 3C
warmer than the rest of Gran Canaria. It also is very
sheltered so has less wind. |
